You can use groovy to achieve the above requirement.
Does this have to be "a single mapping for each benefit and each expense to my own COA" - can you not consolidate it into a single smart push?
No Actually, it must be 1 to 1 mapping

as i dont know so much about groovy.
When you save added all data maps? Did you do that as a Smart Push and used run on Save. Then they all should run. Also, see whether you are using a Form context for all them, if so then it is pushing the same data 20 times. Use override to change where you want.
You might need groovy (but it is not needed for what you described) for removing any dynamic members. I did write a blog post on that
