You could look to develop a custom plugin to pull the data into EM via metrics/configuration collection. The EDK allows you to render the core metrics on custom pages within EM. You could also integrate alerting into the core EM framework and leverage email/SNMP based alerts for example.
Alternatively you could investigate host-level metric extensions to get the data in, assuming you can pull the data from an EM agent host.
Thank you Scott, I really appreciate your help. Could you please point me to the documentation for the three options you outlined, please?
- develop a custom plugin
- integrate external alerts using SNMP
- extend the metric collection of the EM agent
As I said, I am pretty new - just want to make sure I look in the right places
As a start, you should have a look at https://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=53891:206:::NO:::
You'll need the EM EDK to develop the plugin and, if possible, a suitable test EM environment to test this against. If you're new to EM this could be a steep learning curve however.
Metric extensions at a host level may be an easier route to success, assuming the EM agent can get the data you need.
Once the metric info is being sent to EM, you could leverage SNMP alerting (or simple email based alerting). For SNMP trap notifications see https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E73210_01/EMADM/GUID-18F98B02-3B20-4D64-B5E2-6F13FD34A291.htm#EMADM12352
Thank you Scott, this is exactly what I needed!
