It's not a known issue. As in, I don't have a bug logged where this is a reproducible thing to be fixed.
What version Oracle DB are you working with?
And what are your insight preferences set to?

there's nothing on that thread that led to a problem being discovered, diagnosed, and fixed
so we need to figure out what's happening first, i'm not seeing any reports of this issue. I'm not saying it's not happening. We just need a reproducible test case.

Standard settings.
I can reproduce every time - never happened before version 19 I think.
Have tried java 11 too.

1. Disable the two checkboxes at the top of the insight options panel. (The completion insight still can be triggered explicitly by ctrl-space).
2. Edit sqldeveloper.conf:
AddVMOption -Dsqldev.insight.timeout=999999

I know how to disable. That was not what I asked. I want to use insights.
What is the second option for?

To wait longer before giving up on the request for insight suggestions
When the insight is fired, that equals a query being executed...if your data dictionary is slow, it could take more than several seconds to get the suggestions
Vadim is wondering if your error message is around this timeout logic for the insight feature

No - this worked fine on early versions with same database. Tried the option and no joy. In the statement logging I get:

This is a not privileged user but does have access to ALL_OBJECTS but maybe not everything and could this be issue, but also get this on APPS user but slightly different logging:

It could be the db is closing the connection because something isn't right. Have you checked your alert logs?
11204 is about to be out of support. Latest sqldev is using a 19c jdbc driver, could be an issue with that and 11204, although they are supposed to be compatible.

Closed connection on table adviser dictionary query might be the culprit. Can you please test if unselecting the last checkbox -- semantic analysis info tip -- helps?

Nothing shows up in alert log and this is literally less than a minutes from connecting to db.
As mentioned I do not always get the "IO Error: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" but am still getting disconnected.
Appreciate it is old db version and you are probably right. Tested with 12.1 database and works ok, but with all the 11.2 ones it fails.
Will we/ can we get a bug for this? At least I have a workaround.
I have done some db trace and got the following error in the trc file:
opitsk: network error occurred while two-task server trying tosend break; error code = 12592
I have tried different jdbc drivers 6, 7 and 8 from the various db versions but all failed.
