Interrupt grub at boot time, and edit boot config to not use GUI splash, boot single user console mode, review boot messages, and then drop to shell as root to fix.
Could you please explain it in more detail?
Hi I am facing a similar problem. Whosoever owning this VM image for the community kindly fix the issue. The issue is GUI login page didn't appear after booting, rather it's a blank screen and no message or prompt.
It's really difficult to troubleshoot for me, particularly not good at Linux/VM administration.
This VM is created by the Database team. I've notified the DB product management team and asked them to investigate.
We just add in a db/sqldev/apex/ords. To the OL7, this is a linux booting issue, there's not much I can help with.
I've asked someone from the Linux team who builds VirtualBox images to take a look.
Use the basics I have explained - interrupt the grub boot process from auto booting.
Edit the current boot option and remove booting in silent mode using GUI mode. These are options rhgb and the quiet on the line containing the kernel file to boot. Remove the options, and boot.
You can rightly assume the VM image created was tested as working. Thus the error is likely on your side.
I can't reproduce this on my system with this image, so it is not a generic issue...
Also we might have two different problems here.
To answer the OP:
Oracle Linux started to constantly throwing me back to login screen when I try authorize and to reach Desktop.
Does that mean you have disabled the auto-login for the oracle user or just that the auto-login itself does not complete?
Also does the VM reboot or is it the login screen itself which is stuck in a loop?
You might try to switch to the "character mode" console with Ctrl-Alt-F2 and login there as root. If that works we will have access to the logs.
