    INITSID.ORA FILE MISSING

    450408
      Hi,

Unfortunately I am missing my initsid.ora file. So I am not able to startup the database.

      How to create initsid.ora file?

      thanks,

          Do you have your alert.log?
If so, then, you are lucky.
When db startups, oracle writes the non-default prameter and its value to the alert.log file.
Just copy them from alert into a file, may called, initSID.ora and then bring the database.

              hi priya

For startup of oracle database need init parameter file..
Default oracle server used "spfile<sid>.ora" file if not exists then

              sql>startup ---------startup with default spfile.

              SQL> startup
              ORACLE instance started.

              ***************************************************************************

you can startup ur database with pfile.

              sql>startup pfile=oracle-home/database/init<sid>.ora

              SQL> startup pfile=D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1\database\initorcl.ora
              ORACLE instance started.

              Database opened.

              **************************************************************
if you lost above both files then check ur pfile folder....path is

              oracle-home/admin/db_name/pfile/init.ora

above file is text file define all required parameter.

              sql>startup pfile=oracle-home/pfile/init.ora

              SQL> startup pfile=D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\admin\orcl\pfile\init.ora

                  hi

                  if i understand right then.
open ur sqlplus..........just below procedure on windows.

                  cmd>sqlplus "hr/hr@orcl"
                  sql>edit put_ur_file_name.ora enter

i will open in Notepad editor or .ora file extension.

some like you can create "csv", "ctl" , "bat" etc files.

                  hope this helps

you may also want to check if you are using initSid.ora file at all? Most recent databases are using spfile instead of init file.
When you try to start database what error you have?
