    How to change hostname

    BranislavNemec
      Hi,

I have installed Oracle Portal 10.1.4 on machine with hostname x. Now I want to change HTTP server name from x to www.abc.com. What steps to follow to keep my Portal working with new HTTP server name? Which cfg scripts do I need to run?

      thanks,

      Branislav

You can change the hostname of the system. More information is available in the documentation :

          8 Changing Network Configurations

          Oracle® Application Server Administrator's Guide
          10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
          B13995-08

          URL : http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/core.1012/b13995/host.htm#i1006650

Alternatively you can use a virtual host for this. More information about configuration of virtual hosts for Oracle Portal is available in the Oracle Portal Configuration Guide, Chapter 5.

            Hi Erik,

            thanks for hint,

I changed servername in apache conf file from x to www.abc.com.
Then I ran chgipconfig script according to chapter 8 of the documentation.
Now I am able to run my portal on www.abc.com but if I log in with SSO - something hangs up because my browser stays loading page.... very long time (minutes).
I discovered that to make it work again fast I have to restart webcache proces trough Enterprise Manager Console.

Any clue what is going on? Should I run some other scripts to reconfigure Portal? WebCache? - ptlconfig? or something else?

            thanks,

            Branislav

Not really - perhaps the link to your SSO server was still pointing to the old URL.

Does the problem still occur when you restart your whole SSO tier and midtier ?

yes - the browser hangs also after restarting SSO and midtier

additional info: before installation of Portal (midtier), the SSO was reconfigured to SSL enabled. other AS instances using SSO are working correctly... only this new Portal hangs

                  Hi,

I have found my case / solution on metalink:

                  Applies to:
                  Portal - Version: 10.1.2 to 10.1.4
This problem can occur on any platform.
                  Symptoms
Portal is very slow and the webcache event_logs show errors on ESI parsing

                  Changes

Portal site name change in httpd.conf
                  Cause
According to httpd.conf it seems the portal site name has been changed and the webcache is not aware of the changes.

                  .
                  Solution

To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:

                  1. Browse to the webcache administration page and login as webcache administrator

                  2. Select the "Site Definition" link.

                  3. Verify that ALL the site definitions are available and if not, add the missing one and check whether the site definition is mapped

                  4. In the "Site-to-Server Mappings" map the ALL the sites correctly

                  5. Apply the changes and restart the webcache.
