Check Note: 388577.1 - Configuring Oracle Applications Release 12 with 10g R2 RAC
This document describes how to migrate Oracle Applications Release 12 (Release 12.0.0) running on a single database instance to a Real Application Clusters (RAC) environment running Oracle database server 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.2) with Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
Multi node installation for EBS it's a different thing than a RAC installation.
You can have multiple forms servers, http servers, concurrent processing servers...all of these servers concerning APPLICATIONS tier.
RAC it's refering to database tier. RAC it's having multiple instances on multiple servers and only a database. To use multiple database servers RAC it's your only option. ( you cannot have multiple SGA configured on each server whitout RAC option for database)
Hope it helps!
In EBS terminology multinode is where you use more than one server , generally that implies more than one application tier.
RAC is a multiinstance database technology. Outside the EBS world people refer to RAC setups as multinode and this cretes confusion.
so you have multinode databases i.e rac and multinode EBS setups i.e apps server+db server
