I thought OAF = Oracle Application Framework
and OADF = Oracle Application Development Framework
so I don't know the difference between them?!

Well you are correct on OAF, but on Oracle Application Development Framework, it is called ADF. Between, is your understanding correct now with respect to the difference between them.

OAF is also a Java Framework, which you can use to build extensions for Oracle Applications (E-Business Suite)

This Framework takes care of the typical apps layout, takes care of the apps security and many more ...

                        user596569,

I don't know which aspect of difference you are looking between OAF and ADF, but the summary is as follows:

OAF: The technology framework used to create the web bases Oracle Apps and still is the default tool for development of 11i and R12 code. It is very specific to Apps and is meaning less outside apps context.

ADF: The newly developed technology framework upon which fusion version of Apps is based. It is a very generic framework and apart from Apps development, it can also be used for the general J2EE based application development.

As mentioned already by Shiv, ADF is not Apps Specific, but a generic J2EE technology. If you are mentioning about extensions to Apps in 11i or R12 then you cannot use ADF for it. You will have to use OAF.

Read this blog article "OA Framework or ADF?", this specifically answers your question.

Still the ADF is not certified with Apps(11.5.10 and with Rel12).

You can use ADF on 11i and R12 but keep in mind the following factors:

                                    1. It will act like any other custom technology built application.
                                    2. No seamless integration with apps meaning lots of overload in integration.
                                    3. No standards out yet from Apps with respect to ADF.
                                    4. With new apps patches, it might need continuous modifications.
                                    5. Not exact apps UI.
                                    and many other similar facts.
