Thanks Marc that's great news.

Does anyone know if this will be the version included in the upcoming 11g Fusion Middleware release or will there be an updated version?

This is version is the 10.3.1 version (post 10gR3 release). There will be a separete OSB 11G release.

Hi..

* Enhancements to native MQ Series Transport.

does it actually work now?

We've had supoprt cases going since last september and we're still experiencing problems....

Hi Mark,

I am about to start a Proof Of Concept on Oracle Service Bus and MQ integration using OSB 10gR3
What kind of problems am I facing here?
Is it not working at all or only for complex scenarios?
Cannot you still do it the old way using a JMS foreign provider?

Thanks

Hi..

It's working (mostly) well now. The original implementation with ALSB/OSB 3.0 wasn't good, we got a patch for it back in December which contained big changes, so I presume that they back ported changes that were already in progress for the newer releases.

However that patch wouldn't read from Queue Aliases, since it was performing a queue depth.. We receievd another patch early in May that fixes this.

However we had an issue in production over the weekend, where the queue readers stopped reading, it looks like the problem was caused by a network router going funky, we've been trying to reproduce the situation in a local environment but not managed to replicate it yet, so it may be a rare case of events that causes the problem.

I'd suggest trying the 10.3.1 version out against an Alias Queue, if you get the MQ messages Completion code 1 Reason code 2068, then this is the queue depth issue, and you'll need to get a support case going.

We used the foreign jms okay for a long time, the only issue with it was firewalls chopping connections when writing (if no message written for a period of time less than an hour (firewall cutoff period)), this caused a connection hang for 6 minutes before it would realise the connection was actually dead before it created a new one. But we've been using the MQ transport for writing to queue since december with no problems. We were using the foreign jms for reading until last week.

..Regards.

I'll keep that in mind when I start my POC

Thanks for that Mark.

Mark,

Can you please provide info on the Aliases patch you got for 10.3. What was the patch number.

cheers

Hi..

We're still on ALSB/OSB 3.0 (WLS 10mp1), I would expect that our patches have been 'backported' from the development of the new release. The latest patch id for the reading alias queues was M8TU.

Can we upgrade on top of 10.3.0 installation ???
206307
Yes you can. You should be able to run the services on 10.3.1

Kindly explain, when I tried installing the 10.3.1 by choosing the existing home, i got the message as "Incompatible type".

Did you check the docs?

Thanks,

Was this a custom patch for your site, or was it for public release?

I have the problem when trying to upgrade from 10.3.0. to 10.3.1.

I did the folowing steps:
1. Stopped all weblogic servers and nodemanagers in cluster.
2. Backed up db and all bea homes (simple tar -zcf)
3. Run the installer ./osb1031_wls103_linux32.bin

On the second step of installer appears the problem:

<----------------------------------------- Oracle Installer - Oracle Service Bus 10.3.1.0 ---------------------------------------->

Choose BEA Home Directory:
--------------------------

1|* Create a new BEA Home
->2|/usr/local/bea

** The product maintenance level of the current installer (Oracle Service Bus:10.3.1.0) is not compatible with the
** maintenance level of the product installed on your system (Oracle Service Bus:10.3.0.0) . Please obtain a compatible
** installer or perform maintenance on your current system to achieve the desired level.

Hi Andrey,

I have the exact same situation. I followed the upgrade guide but still get the compatible error. Can anybody help please?

I have opened a SR on Metalink.

If I remember correct, upgrade installer would be like osb1031_wls103_upgrade_linux32.bin not osb1031_wls103_linux32.bin. Thats how I remember doing upgrade for previous versions of ALSB/OSB.

Thanks Manoj,

I just downloaded the full 10.3.1.0 osb1031_wls103_linux32.bin, but you are probably right that I have to find the OSB Release 3 Maintenance Pack 1 somewhere. I have been trying to locate it on Metalink but no luck so far.

Just got a response to my SR:

Thanks for your patience. I have tried upgrading myself and got the same exception. It seems like we need to have correct upgrade i
nstaller.

Metalink doesn't have OSB 10.3.1 installer. I see the installer availability is only on OTN.
I'm researching the root cause for this. I'm reaching engineering to get the right installer for upgrade. I will let you know my update
on this.

However, there is an alternative approach you might be interested. Please let me know if the alternative approach works for you.

Best Regards,

Backup your OSB Configurations:
----------------------------------------------
1. On each existing OSB domain, export the OSB Configuration via OSB Console -> System Administration -> Export Configuration -> Choose all the resources and
click Export will genearate sbconfig.jar

http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/consolehelp/import_export.html#wp1062973

2. Repeat step 1 for all your domains

New Install
-----------------

1. Install OSB 10.3.1 into new BEA_Home

2. Create the required domains

3. Start each domain and import the corresponding sbconfig into each domain

Limitations with the workaround:
---------------------------------------------
1. Security configuration like SSL, Authenticators under security realms (if any) has to be reperformed in the new
domain
2. Old Reporting data might not be available in the new domains. However if you are pointing to the same database then they can be available.

Hi,

I got a special patch file from the Metalink support engineer and that worked. :-)

Is this Oracle Smart Update patch?
Is this patch was created only for you?
I cant find it on metalink...

P.S. Can you send me this patch on email (andrei.lobanov@gmail.com) please?
601345
Hi Andrey,

I rather not send it to you since I don't know if I am allowed :-| Please open a SR and reference my SR number 7571357.994.

It is not a smart update. I got a link to a ftp server where I downloaded a bin file.

I have just asked Oracle when this patch will be published. I will post their answer.

Hi All,

Upgrade installer is not released as a smart update patch. For some reason, this upgrade installers are not available via metalink as well.

This particular upgrade installers (linux, windows) are internally available. Ideally these installers should be available via metalink and support is working with product management to get that.

In the meanwhile, please create a support request as Peter suggested.

Hello *,

So FMW 11g is out, but OSB 11g is not part of it and there will be a seperate release?
Can you confirm this? Any more details?

thanks,

Barossa
