    cx_Oracle and collections

    615703
      Hello all,

I have an Oracle (10g Release 2) procedure that is returning a collection type as one of the columns in the result set. When the Python developer tries to fetch a row from the result set, he gets the following error:

NotSupportedError: 'Variable_TypeByOracleDataType: unhandled data type 108'

Does anyone have experience with handling collections in cx_Oracle or know if it is possible to work with collections in cx_Oracle? Thanks for any help you can provide.

      Jason

      EDIT:
I found this thread through Google:

      http://osdir.com/ml/python.db.cx-oracle/2004-06/msg00003.html

It's 3+ years old but indicates that user-defined data types are not supported in cx_Oracle - anyone know if this has changed? Otherwise, it look like i'll need to convert the collection to a string....

I asked more or less the same question a few months ago in the cx_Oracle mailing list.
          Here's the link: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=46DF1F23.7080808%40fibertel.com.ar&forum_name=cx-oracle-users
