I explain our problem.
Recently we decided to free a phsical server on which our OCS is installed. by virtualizing with VM Ware on a ESX Server.
Ideally i told our system guys to create the whole image from the physical server but they couldn't
I learned, two hours ago, :
They've Created a fresh image of a Suse Linux 9 (our current OS), and they copied the Oracle Home into the Linux image .
But first i replied them :
They forgot some files present in the /etc as oraInst.loc and oratab
Are there any files that have could be installed outside the oracle Home?
Depends on the choices done when installing, but here are some places to look.
The files (and a folder) in /etc you already know about.
Then you have a couple of files in /usr/local/bin (oraenv etc.)
Check /opt and /var/opt (oraInventory is often here)
The database might have been installed on a different partition (that should have been documented when installing)
