ORACLE!!! Download Oracle 8.1.7 for HP-UX 11.0 where is it???

194513Feb 4 2002
All, trying to download a copy of Oracle 8.1.7 for HP-UX 11.0. This download seems no longer to be available (just 9i) and judging by the other posts on this topic, Oracle dont seem to care either - this is not exactly good customer service!

***ORACLE - where have the 8.1.7 downloads gone, and when can we expect them back? *****

Thanks all OTN Member for ur interest and instant replies..

Now it is quite Clear, that presently ORACLE 9i, doesn't have support for URDU language.

I was reading the Oracle 9i, Release 2 guide and i read about the LOCALE Builder utility.. My confusion is that

- Can i build URDU Language Supported Locale through LOCALE BUIlDER Utility??
Can i make URDU LOCALE through Locale Buider Utility???

I am very worried..
Plz anyone help

Salman,

The NLS_LANGUAGE parameter or the Oracle supported languages are used to determine the language for displaying the Month names (i.e. MONTH and MON format masks) and day of the week names (i.e. DAY and DY) etc. It has no effect of data storage. It does not affect the storage of URDU characters in the database, Unicode is the encoding that you should use for storing all Indic scripts.

Locale Builder does allow you to define new Oracle languages (for defining Month names, day names etc.) Please check out the locale builder section in the globalization support guide for more info.

Nat.
