Does Oracle 11g support SuSE Linux Enterprises Server 10.1?

642730Jun 3 2008 — edited Jun 30 2008
I find following words in install guide of Oracle 11g:

Operating System Requirements
The following are the operating system requirements for Oracle Database 11g Release 1:
For Linux x86 and Linux x86-64:
■Asianux 2.0
■Asianux 3.0
■Oracle Enterprise Linux 4.0
■Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.0
■Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.0
■SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10.0
To determine the distribution and version of Linux installed, enter the following command:
# cat /proc/version

Note:
Only the distributions and versions listed in the earlier list are supported. Do not install the software on other versions of Linux.
Do this means Oracle 11g doesn't support SLES 10.1?

Can't tell from what you've posted. Check the support matrix on metalink for that specific version. Keep in mind that, for example, Oracle supports both Oracle and RedHat 4 updates through at least 6. Which might well be represented as 4.4, 4.5, and 4.6/

How long ago was 10.1 released? Is the 0.1 a bug fix or something more substantive? If you are unsure open an SR and ask.

No, it is supported. Installation guides are written at the beginning of a major database release, they can't reflect the progress in the OS landscape. I have 11gR1 running SLES 10 SP1 without any problems.

Yes SUSE linux 10.1 is supports Oracle11g. I installed oracle11g 32 bit and 64 bit on suse linux.

The problem with 11g is if dbconsole is started it takes 100% CPU.

Thanks
jeevan.
