Enterprise Linux 5.1 Install via ftp

643158Jun 4 2008 — edited Jun 4 2008
I've downloaded all 5 .ISO files from the e-delivery site.

I burned the bootable disc1image from [Enterprise-R5-U1-Server-i386-disc1.iso].

The system boots properly from the CD.

I've expanded all (5) .ISO's onto the ftp server with the /disc1, /disc2, /disc3,/disc4,/disc5 file structure expected by the ftp LINUX loader that runs after boot when the ftp load method is selected as part of the LINUX OS load process run from the physical CDROM [disc1].

When the point comes in the load to grab the remaining files from the ftp server it logs on successfully to the target ftp server, and as I watch my ftp server's log screen, it is being asked (after going through the same for /disc1 through /disc5) to CWD into a disc6 directory which obviously does not exist as there are only 5 ISO's in the distribution.

Any ideas?

I have to load multiple servers multiple times for testing and training and ftp-over-gigabit-ethernet is a much cleaner alternative than loading 5 physical CD's each and every time.

I saw the post explaining how to merge the 5 CD ISO's into a single DVD but that looked like it might not work either and hasn’t been validated yet from what I could see.
