    OleDb Provider For Oracle

      Hi guys,

Just wanted to know whether "OleDb Provider For Oracle" are different for different versions of Oracle? Like for 9i, 10g, 11g?

      Do they have backward compatibility?
And from where I can download them?

      I'm new to Oracle.

Microsoft's OLEDB Provider for Oracle is provided by Microsoft, comes with MDAC (should already be installed) and works with any version of Oracle client although they stopped certifying it back in 8i (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q244661/)

Oracle's Provider for OLEDB is provided by Oracle, and is client version specific (10.2.x oraoledb requires 10.2.x client, etc) and can be obtained via the ODAC downloads at http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odpnet/index.html
Theyre generally backward compatible to a couple versions of database.

          Hope it helps,
