ChecK you database charater set.
login to database where you want to install informatica repository with user sys and then paste this command.
select from nls_database_parameters where parameter='NLS_CHARACTERSET'*
If your charater set is WE8MSWIN1252 or something else then change it to AL32UTF8
After that try to install informatica again i think this will solve your problem.

thank you for your answer. But, I am using an SQL DB, in the documentation only says to use the NSL_LANGUAGE if you are using an ORACLE DB.
In addition, on the documentation also says to set the NSL_LANGUAGE system environment with the same value as the oracle DB has....
should I change this value even thou I am using an SQL DB?

This is related to an Informatica and Windows security setting.
Here is what I found in the Informatica Knowledgebase:
In PowerCenter 8.1.0, when installing Server onWindows 2000, the following error is displayed:
Error: 'infasetup.bat' is not recognized as an internal or external command,operable program or batch file.ExitCode: 1
This error occurs when the user is a part of Administrative Group and that group does not have Log on as Service .
To verify for this rights, follow the steps below:
Go to Control Panel >Administrative Tools > Local Security > Local policies > User Rights Assignment.
Select Log on as Service , right click and select Security
Ensure that the Administrative Group exists under Assigned to

I am trying to install on Windows XP..
I have checked my database it has AL32UTF8 as NLS Char set..
My user account has administrator privliege..
