how is your processes parameter? There used to be a problem in 10.4 that caused kernel panics when starting the database with more than about 40 (don't remember exact count) processes.
Processes is set to 750 and the ulimit for processes is 2048. The kernel panic is happening intermittently and not while starting up oracle.
Looking at the forums it looks like their are two kernel panic issues but seem to relate to 10.3.6-9 and 10.5.1-2 but not to 10.4.X:
Mac OS X 10.3.6 vs. higher versions
Re: Oracle 10.1 + Leopard
I have Oracle 10.1.0.5 and OSX 10.4.11 . I have Oracle 2 instances in single mode and one in RAC mode. I have 3 Xserve, 1 Xraid and 1 Promise.
I never had a Kernel Panic in OSX caused by Oracle.
But I have several dumps e log being generated by Oracle. All the problems in my case was generated by NFS. When I buy a second storage (for volume reasons) and upgraded my fibre channel switch and abandoned the NFS, all problems stop.
