Hi everydbody I hope somebody help me...

Well I've installed Oracle 11g on HP-UX Itanium, but I'm getting some problems...the Database sometimes freezes.

I mean, when I perform it works without problems but it takes some time and when I do repeat the query and I don't get the result, because the database don't answer.

I'm seeing in the alert file, there is some lines:

      ns main err code: 12535

      Fatal NI connect error 12170.

      TNS-12535: TNS:operation timed out
      ns secondary err code: 12606
      nt main err code: 0
      nt secondary err code: 0
      nt OS err code: 0
      Client address: (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=172.20.24.20)(PORT=37507))
WARNING: inbound connection timed out (ORA-3136)

      VERSION INFORMATION:

TCP/IP NT Protocol Adapter for HPUX: Version 11.1.0.6.0 - Production
      Time: 09-DEC-2008 15:35:55
      Tracing not turned on.
      Tns error struct:
      ns main err code: 12535

      TNS-12535: TNS:operation timed out
      ns secondary err code: 12606
      nt main err code: 0
      nt secondary err code: 0
      nt OS err code: 0
      Client address: (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=172.20.24.14)(PORT=61322))
WARNING: inbound connection timed out (ORA-3136)

For the solution of my problem actually I've choice shutdown the database whit startup force.
First I perform kill -9 process and next shutdown whit startup force.

Thanks somebody who help whit this...

          Well, I would keep on performing . . . .

Oracle Corporation strongly recommend the Oracle University courses, if you need to learn Oracle:

          http://education.oracle.com/

Also, you can look up Oracle error on Google very quicly:

          http://dbaforums.org/oracle/index.php?showtopic=3011

          ********************************************************
          ORA-12535: TNS:operation timed out

Cause: The requested operation could not be completed within the time out period.

Action: Look at the documentation on the secondary errors for possible remedy. See SQLNET.LOG to find secondary error if not provided explicitly. Turn on tracing to gather more information.

          ********************************************************

Was this working before? If so,

1 - Check your client-side sqlnet log files for more details

2 - Try a direct connetion from your client using tnsping:

          tnsping <servicename>

3 - Run a statspack report and look at the top-5 timed events. If "SQL*Net" waits are there, you may need to tune your network (SDU, TDU).

          Hope this helps . . .
