It seems to be previous db instance was not shutdown completely, check any oracle process exists for the instance. Kill all the process (kill -9 <pid>) and release the shared memory if any exists (ipcs -a/-b and ipcrm -m <shmid>) then try again.

            Aman....
This is what the error code says,
ORA-01102 cannot mount database in EXCLUSIVE mode
Cause: Some other instance has the database mounted exclusive or shared.
Action: Shut down the other instance or mount in a compatible mode.>
It appears that you have some how still this database marked as opened and now again trying to restart it is throwing this error. Follow this thread over Orafaq and see if it helps,

I wonder why the first two STARTUP attempts resulted in 'insufficient privileges'
              SQL> conn sys/oracle as sysdba
              Connected to an idle instance.
              SQL> startup
              ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
              SQL> startup mount
              ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
Irrespective of whether you had the correct pfile or not, the error message shouldn't have been this. This error message occurs if you are not in the OS_DBA group (Windows).
