I am using the Oracle AMI for database, but would like to install Oracle Apache, so I can run PHP as well. To install Oracle HTTP, an Xwindow UI is needed. With the cloud, I only have putty/ssh access to the Amazon VM.
I'm thinking I'll either:
a) try to run VNC to connect to my Oracle AMI and run xwindows server on the Amazon VM
b) run an Xwindows server on my local machine and display over the internet (which I'm thinking could be very slow).
Any other solutions that people have found? I don't think Oracle database or HTTP can be installed from the command line only.
Our AMI's already have a vnc server installed, you just need to start it. You would also need to open up the necessary ports in your EC2 firewall. I recommend only allowing access to ports from your IP Range for security purposes.
