I am new to OBIEE.
I get an error "Unable to connect database using connection pool 'Connection Pool'" when i try to connect to the connection pool in rpd. Then i checked my ODBC driver configuration. It throws an error "ORA 17120: TNS: Connection Timeout occurred".
I have 10g installed in my system.
Could anyone please help me to solve the problem
Just check the listener for the oracle 10g is started or not. This error generally comes when the service listener configured is not started.
You can check the Database service status as :
tnsping -<Service id>.
If it shows TNS: Connection Timeout occurred", that is the service if is bot started. Please start the listner by using the "lstnrctl start" command.
Then check the SID again by using "tnsping" command.
If successfully connected, then try to connect it via OBI using a datasource.
The Connection Timeout error can be for many reasons, firewall issue, database down, listener down, bad sqlnet.ora parm, network trouble.
reconfigure all of the parameters SQLNET.INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT, SQLNET.SEND_TIMEOUT, SQLNET.RECV_TIMEOUT in sqlnet.ora to larger values
Your sqlnet.ora file can be found in your $ORACLE_HOME/network/admindirectory.
Verify that your hosts file has a DNS entry:
If you are using Windows XP operating system, make your hosts file is located at win/system32/driver/etc/.
Thanks for the help.
I reconfigured the parameters in sqlnet.ora. But its not working.
I tried to start the listener but its throwing the following error:
TNS 12560: TNS: protocol adapter error
TNS 00530: protocol adapter error
I think this should be resolved quickly.
See if you have db up and running by following steps given under this link
Once it is up, try to see, if you have ODBC connections successful.
If yes, you should not get error, if you still have doubts let me know
