We have an issue with budgets. In our legacy system, we enter yearly budget and the balance in the Req comments after consulting Oracle Financials. Now in Oracle Purchasing, we'd like to see the budget details on the PR. We thought about a DFF displaying yearly budgets by retrieving the information from GL for the Req charge account. Another field would calculate the balance but this way, we are rewriting Encumbrances and Budgetary Control. So, we decided to go with Encumbrances. The downside is we'll be encumbering Reqs and POs when what we really want is to see only the budget and balance on the Req. Any alternatives?
