Where can I find the archive log files

626620Jun 10 2009 — edited Jun 18 2009
We have 11g on Linux. I just set the database into ARCHIVELOG mode. After opened the database, ARC1 - ARC3 are running and in alert.log file I sew thing like
ARC3 started with pid=22, OS id=19595
ARC3: Becoming the 'no FAL' ARCH
ARC3: Becoming the 'no SRL' ARCH
ARC1: Becoming the heartbeat ARCH

It seems OK, but I just cannot find the archive log files in db_recovery_file_dest location. We do not have log_archive_dest_n parameter set, and $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/arch did not exist until I checking for archive log fils.

Does Oracle really generate archive log in this case?
