Discoverer Support?

user23011Jul 31 2009 — edited Aug 2 2009
I'm trying to understand what Oracle will do and will not do with the various versions of Discoverer. We are currently on Discoverer 10.1.2.2 (plus & viewer).

In note 237607.1 in the middle it says...

"10.1.2.2 is a recent patch set, but not the latest patchset. Discoverer cumulative patch 8 was the last cumulative patch released on this patchset. This version is no longer eligible for backports."

In the same note at the bottom, there is a highlighted box that says...

"Note: Cumulative Patch 8 over 10.1.2.2 is the last cumulative patch for 10.1.2.2. Any new fixes are provided in the 10.1.2.3 next available cumulative patch."

Right after that there is a table of information saying that "Premier Support" for 10.1.2.2 will end in 31-DEC-2010.

So my question is: If Oracle is telling me that version 10.1.2.2 won't receive backport of bug fixes or any fixes at all, then what good is "Premier Support"? I don't know what the legal definition of "Premier Support" is but I would have thought that Oracle would at least fix bugs. I must be missing something. Could someone clue me in?

Thanks in advance....

Marty
