    Problem with DUPLICATE Database

      This is a very long post and I apologize for that:

          Per metalink note,

          Subject: RMAN Duplicate fails with ORA-19870, ORA-19507, ORA-27029 and ORA-19511

          Doc ID: *562780.1*
          ....
          Solution:

          In this case the failing routine:

          ORA-19507: failed to retrieve sequential file,
          handle="RMAN_TRXPRAC_Online<trxp2_88184:646171398:1>.dbf", parms=""
          ORA-27029: skgfrtrv: sbtrestore returned error

          The actual eror is:

          ORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text:
          Vendor specific error: Cannot find requested element ERR(2:OBE_INVARG)

          If you are restoring to a new host there will be additional media manager
          environment variables that need to be set to tell the media manager that a
          backup created on one host, is to be restored to another.

          The specific error: Cannot find requested element ERR(2:OBE_INVARG), is a media manager error, pleas contact your media manager vendor.
          ...

          There looks to be the issues with Media manager.

          Hope this helps.

          Regards,
          Vasu

            Your problem seems to be
            sbtrestore: Job44240 thread3696: CVArchive->open() failed.
            Why has the open called failed repeatedly ? Is the tape drive inaccessible ?

              I agree Hemant. It does seem to be this error"sbtrestore: Job44240 thread3696: CVArchive->open() failed." My sysadmins have opened a call with Commault the backup software vendor. I will be talking with them soon.

              In the mean time I have run a RESYNC CATALOG and performed a full backup and tried the DUPLICATE again with the same errors.
