I haven't tried storing objects in SecureFiles as I tend to follow Tom Kyte's advice to store data relationally and build object views.
Doing what Tom suggests is far more efficient as well as allowing you to guarantee data integrity ... something you can not do now.
As an added advantage you don't need to worry about A/C, Streams, Logical Data Guard, and numerous other issues you now confront.
you can set parameter db_securefile to always, to enforce securefile usage.
you might also consider to move the lob to a compressed or deduplicated lob.
alter table move lob ...
This worked for me; thanks very much.
By the way, the documentation says: "The parameter is dynamic and the scope is ALTER SYSTEM." However, v$parameter indicates that the scope is session, and altering session worked for me.
