    how to connect database on server from client with peopletools?

    726048
      anyone knows how to connect database that we created with scripts by peoplesoft?

      after I installed peopletools on window XP (client), should I have to instal oracle 11gR1 client??

      my server is OEL 5.3 with Peopletools 8.49 and Peoplesoft HRMS 9l

          No necessary. 3tier connection - through the AppServer - does not need it.
          However, to connect in bootstrap mode to DMS (within the Peoplesoft owner), it is required.

            would like to explain how to configure tnsnames.ora?? we configure it only on client machine. Am I right?

            here tnsnames.ora

            PS111 =
            ( DESCRIPTION =
            (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST=122.200.6.115) (PORT=1521))
            (CONNECT_DATA =
            (SERVER = DEDICATED)
            (SID = DMOHRMS9)
            )
            )

            FYI, I can ping to 122.200.6.115 well in command prompt.

            when I run Data Mover I get error
            file: SQL ACCESS MANAGER SQL error. Stmt #:2 Error position: 0 return: 12154
            ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified

              Hmmm, what's the content of table PSDBOWNER ?

                my goodness, why I cannot select * from ps.psdbowner ? ( in dbowner.log, I see Table PSDBOWNER created..)

                I get Oracle Not Available, again..... :(

                FYI, after I created spfile on step 14, I could not shutdown immediate.. it's Oracle Not Available..

                what should I do??

                thanks..

                  Dear user8757041,
                  It's complicated to provide help without anything serious from you from the other side of the network.
                  You seem rather confused, so I would suggest to take a cup of tea with sugar and some cake, maybe restart all the process from scratch, and try to solve all the problem one by one without trying to bypass anyone of them. Do not forget to make several pauses in your installation, since it could take several hours.
                  If you have a problem you cannot solve by yourself, please, come back, tell us your configuration, what you've done exactly (and why, e.g. why tns entry above is P111 whereas dbname is DMOHRMS9 which does matter for Peoplesoft ?), what is failing.
                  But again, problem should be taken one by one because trying to skip one could make it more difficult to solve.

                  Nicolas.

                    the computer RAM is 1G. Is enough for both peoplesoft and oracle database server?? -- well I have changed to 2G now :D
                    Is my VGA allocation is enough?

                      hello Nicolas.
                      I have restart again. I reallocated SGA. And its work.
                      I ran all scripts. Well, first time I got problem when after I ran dbowner.sql. This is the error.
                      SQL> CONNECT PS/PS;
                      Error accessing PRODUCT_USER_PROFILE
                      Warning: Product user profile information not loaded!
                      You may need to run PUPBLD.SQL as SYSTEM
                      Connected.>
                      I restart all over again, but before I ran dbowner.sql, I ran pupbld.sql first. But I still got error.
                      well, i select * from ps.psdbowner; there is no row selected.

                      If I compare with your database creation steps, you don't even run pupbld.sql. I see that it is success. Are there missing steps??

                      regard

                      Nico.

                        Which user are you connect with to run dbowner.sql ?
                        psdbowner is empty till you run the very first DMS load.

                        Nicolas.

                          well, on OEL I logged as ora111 ( oracle user ) and I run sqlplus as sysdba.

                            hello user8767041, just want to help.
                            before you run pupbld, you should connect with system/manager. (don't forget to modify SYSTEM/MANAGER to system/manager in dbowner.sql) CMIIW

                              thank you Nia. :)

                              well, now its about tnsnames.ora, listener.ora

                              this my tnsnames.ora

                              DMOHRMS9 =
                              ( DESCRIPTION =
                              (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST=122.200.6.115) (PORT=1521))
                              (CONNECT_DATA =
                              (SERVER = DEDICATED)
                              (SERVICE_NAME = DMOHRMS9)
                              )
                              )

                              and this is my listener.ora

                              DMOHRMS9 =
                              ( DESCRIPTION =
                              (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST=122.200.6.115) (PORT=1521))
                              (CONNECT_DATA =
                              (SERVER = DEDICATED)
                              (SERVICE_NAME = DMOHRMS9)
                              )
                              )

                              can I connect to database by Data Mover ( after I put information in Configuration Manager which is people) ?
