    10053 trace file is not getting generated.

      Hello,

      My database version: 11.1.0.7 on RHEL4U6.

      I am trying to generate a 10053 trace in the database and it is not generating it.

      Here is how I am trying to do it:
      SQL> select spid from v$process where addr=(select paddr from v$session where sid=(select distinct sid from v$mystat));

      SPID
      ------------------------
      14622

      SQL> ALTER SESSION SET EVENTS '10053 TRACE NAME CONTEXT FOREVER, LEVEL 1';

      Session altered.

      SQL> select /* do hard parse */ count(*) from T;

        COUNT(*)
      ----------
         1000509
      And then I go look at the trace file directory set by user_dump_dest parameter and I don't see any trace file.

      I know that Oracle needs to hard parse the query for it to generate a 10053 trace file. So I changed the query in several different ways, even flushed the shared pool, but no dice. No trace file.

      Has anyone come across this before? What could cause a 10053 trace to not create a file?

      Thanks.
