I am in process of migrating the existing MSSQL database to Oracle 10g R2 database. In the MSSQL database we have few tables with column of type float (MSSQL float data type) - what data type I should use for the correponding column in the oracle database table.
I want to ensure that the data type which I use in Oracle will not result in data loss for the data stored in the column.
The Datatype FLOAT from SQL SERVER is normally converted to Oracle in FLOAT(53) datatype.
If you migrate a SQL SERVER database to Oracle, I suggest you to use SQL*DEVELOPER as all is automatically done (datatypes translation, tables, index, all objects migration...)
