Eloqua segment builds - Custom Object records exclusion

Hello,

I'm trying to build a segment that pulls in contacts who have a linked Custom Object record with field = value X but also want to make sure they do not have a linked Custom Object record with field = value Y

I'm struggling to see a way of doing this using the functionality available. Does anyone have any tricks on how to achieve this?
