Oracle NetSuite is pleased to announce the general availability of SOAP Web Services Version 2019.1, and REST Web Services Public Beta Version for all Oracle NetSuite products. This announcement provides an overview of the new capabilities released with this version.
SuiteCloud Platform REST API Public Beta Version Available
In addition to SOAP Web Services, SuiteTalk now also includes new REST Web Services. The REST API is a new SuiteCloud Platform API that provides a REST-based web services interface for integrating external applications with NetSuite. It is a modern, lightweight, easy-to-use API based on the widely adopted REST architecture style. In 2019.1, the REST API was released as Limited Beta, which is now available, as Public Beta, to all customers in version 2019.2. Please see the release notes and online help for more details about this new and exciting integration API.
CSV import is adding support for these new records:
- Item Location Configuration: The record enables you to set up only the locations where an item will be used and you can copy configurations for ease of maintenance. The record is available when the following features are enabled: Multi-Location Inventory, Advanced Inventory Management, and Advanced Item Location Configuration, and supports the tracking of location attribute data for items in accounts where these features are enabled.
- Budget Exchange Rate: This record is used to maintain exchange rates between child and parent subsidiaries for budget management processes. The Multiple Currencies and Multiple Budgets features must be enabled to use the budget exchange rate record.
- BOM: A Bill of Materials (BOM) record lists the quantities of raw materials, assemblies, sub-components, and parts needed to manufacture a product. BOM’s are used to communicate product information among manufacturing partners, and across multiple facilities within an organization, or within a manufacturing facility.
- BOM Revision: This record enables you to update BOM details throughout the product lifecycle. A BOM revision also provides a revision history, making it possible to compare and track cost savings when multiple BOM revisions are used in production.
- Period End Journal Entry: A period end journal is a transaction record that posts subsidiary consolidation and year-end closing to the general ledger. Period end journals are generated automatically when you complete the Create Period End Journals task on the Period Close Checklist. You can update previously generated period end journals, but you cannot add new records through CSV Import.
SOAP Web Services is adding support for these new records:
- Merchandise Hierarchy Node: A merchandise hierarchy node groups items that share similar characteristics. The record contains details of the position of the node in the hierarchy, and the version or versions in which it is included.
- Customer-Subsidiary Relationship: Available if you use NetSuite OneWorld and enable the Multi-Subsidiary Customer feature. You can create or update multi-subsidiary customer records with subsidiary related information. These multi-subsidiary customer records appear on the Customers list.
- Vendor-Subsidiary Relationship: Available in NetSuite OneWorld. You can create or update multi-subsidiary vendor records with subsidiary, credit limit, and tax code information. These multi-subsidiary vendor records appear on the Vendors list.
- Custom Segment: The Custom Segments feature lets you use custom classification fields similar to class, department, and location. Previously, you could use the getCustomizationId operation to get a list of custom segments. Now you can get definition fields for specific Custom Segment records. Custom Segment records cannot be added or updated through SOAP web services.
- Period End Journal Entry: A period end journal is a transaction record that posts subsidiary consolidation and yearCend closing to the general ledger. Period end journals are generated automatically when you complete the Create Period End Journals task on the Period Close Checklist. You can update already generated period end journals, but you cannot add new records through SOAP Web Services.
Update Your Integrations to Use Dynamic Discovery Methods and Account-specific Domains
As Oracle NetSuite expands to support additional infrastructure hosting options, customers may elect to move accounts to a new or different data center, for example to improve application performance. To better support moving accounts, we are introducing account-specific domains for SuiteTalk and RESTlets. Specifically, account-specific domains do not require a data center identifier, only the account ID. Available in version 2019.1, the SOAP getDataCenterUrls operation and the REST datacenterURLs operation return account-specific domains.
To improve support for past account moves, we introduced a proxy service to reroute any requests sent to the incorrect data center. The proxy redirects SOAP Web Services requests to the correct data center hosting the account. As previously announced, we will begin retiring the proxy service for production accounts in June of 2019.
Please note that SOAP Web Services versions 2019.1 and later are only available in account-specific domains. NetSuite no longer processes requests on data center-specific domains, with the exception of the getDataCenterUrls operation on webservices.netsuite.com.
If you use the getDataCenterUrls operation, these changes will not affect your account. We do not recommend constructing service endpoint URLs from strings in client application. For more information, see the getDataCenterUrls operation article in the NetSuite Help Center or SuiteAnswers.
SOAP Web Services Lifecycle
Oracle NetSuite provides product support for SOAP web services endpoints and associated WSDL’s in the current (19.2) product release, plus the previous 5 versions or 6 in total. Eight additional endpoint versions from the previous four years are also available, however are provided without any product support.
Access to older versions is blocked. For more information, see Support of existing WSDL versions support articles in the NetSuite Help Center or SuiteAnswers.
We strongly recommend that you update any client applications that use unsupported WSDL versions, and any client applications created using the beta version of the 2019.1 WSDL to a currently supported version.
