Can I change the department assigned to a fixed asset?

It appears to be greyed out in the edit mode on the screen, and the CSV import says it succeeds, but the record is not changed. Am I correct in saying that the department cannot be changed on the asset, but the asset would need to be recreated to reflect a new department?
