How to fix ERROR: Field '‌applyingtransaction.number' Not Found on custom fields?

Hi, I'm trying to add this field to the invoice, so I can print the payment or credit memo that's applied to the invoice on the invoice pdf. Followed the instruction from Answer ID 67759, but somehow the field comes with the error message above. Could you kindly shed some light what I did wrong on my end? Thank you!
