Department Field Occasionally Fails to Autopopulate in Time Entry

In our weekly time tracking form, the typical behavior is for each new row's Department to autopopulate to the department of the currently logged in user. It always autopopulates appropriately on my end, but some users have reported instances where the Department field initializes as a blank value instead. Unfortunately, I'm unable to reproduce the issue so I can't nail down a possible cause, but is there anything we could change to ensure that the Department field always autopopulates as expected?
