Removing inactive projects or classes from the reports filter view

When viewing reports, the native filter view has all classes / projects that have ever been set up. Even when we have "inactivated" on the class in the list, they still show up as an option in the scrolling view.... does anyone know how to make sure they don't show up as a in the report view filter as an option to select if they are marked in the records as "inactive"?
