Vendor Purchase Price Track Changes

On an item record under the vendor tab --> Purchase Price. I need to setup an alert to let me know when someone changes this vendor purchase price. Is this something that can even be done as this field is not available in system information. If anyone has suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
