AE: trade off : Parent/Child vs Custom Button

Hi,

At the moment, I am analyzing some requirements and I am curious to hear your opinion.

Requirement: A custom record should be created from a bill & all the common fields should be sourced

Solution 1: create a Parent/Child structure between the Bill & the Custom Record

Solution 2: create a custom button and when this button is pressed, the custom record will open.

Which are the most important elements to take into account in order to choose the appropriate solution?
