Bill Payment > Processed Outside NetSuite

My utilities are paid via EFT. I don't have ACH set up with my bank, and my bank doesn't talk to NetSuite. Is there a way to mark a bill as paid via an external EFT? I've tried entering a payment, but it requires a unique payment number like a check number. Is there another process?
