Items damaged

Hello, we are wondering what the correct process would be for the following situation:

We order 10 items from a vendor and 3 come in damaged. We want to ship back the 3 for repair and then receive in another 3. Also what happens if we just want to destroy the 3 items instead of shipping them back.
