Inventory Activity Detail Report - Column by Monthly

I am looking at Inventory Activity Detail Report. I hope to be able to configure so that it shows columns for Month, or Quarter. However, I have hard time to achieve so successfully. Even if I go to Report and select Matrix type, I am not able to get this report to show monthly or quarterly column view to compare the history/trend.

The main beauty of this report is that it shows the item's inventory movement no matter it is fulfilled by itself, or fulfilled as the member of the kit sold, or deduct by Assembly Work Order.

Do you have any suggestions on how can I get this report right, or if there is other report, or analytics template can help me find out the inventory activity in monthly matrix view.
