Is it possible to assign Customer Part Numbers to Kit Items?

Hello,

I am new to Netsuite and I am setting up items and kits for a distribution company. I am using customer part numbers for items but also need to add a customer part number to kits. I see the cust part number marked as "show" on the form but cannot view it or edit it in the entry form. Ive tried a few different pre-built entry forms but still cant find how to view it.
