Overriding Item Average Cost

Is there way to override the average cost of an item?

I believe it can be done using the Adjust Inventory Worksheet. However my question is regarding Lot Numbered items that can only be adjusted using Adjust Inventory.

I tried adjusting all the On Hand quantities to zero and then creating Adjustment transactions to get them back to the correct on hand quantities but also putting in the new revised cost. This didn't change the average cost.

Any ideas?
