Line Item Shipping - Is there any documentation?

We identified an issue with the "History" of line Items on Quotes and SO's and have realized it is caused by Line Item Shipping being enabled. I can't find any documentation on Line Item Shipping and what will occur if/when I disable it.

FYI - The problem is that NetSuite is updating the line Item History with the shipping address every time the SO is touched. This is a performance hog, waste of system resources and a very bad design/architecture :(
