Adding avg cost from separate subsidiary to customer sales report

Hello, currently am able to run a customer sales by item report. I would like to add the average cost for the item to this report, however, the average cost is on a separate subsidiary. Have tried adding the average cost field from the Item Type table but is does not work. Would like to know if this is even possible and if so how to implement, thank you.
