How to do Automated Savings Report?

Does anybody know how to do an automated savings report?

We have changed vendors for better pricing on a number of items, and I have to do a monthly savings report. I have been going in and manually getting the total spent from POs, then multiplying the quantity purchased by our old vendor pricing, but have got to believe there is a way to automate this. At least I hope, since the list of items they want savings reports on keeps getting longer.
