How can I reverse a fixed asset added in error?

My organization uses the fixed asset module to manage fixed assets. After the fixed assets were added last month, someone modified the original bill to change the general ledger account number from fixed asset to storage, which is correct. But now my fixed asset register does not balance to my general ledger fixed assets account. What is the best way to correct this issue?
