Why is the Disc. Taken going back to zero after changing the Date on Accept Customer Payment page?

Changing the date on the cash application removes any manually applied discounts on the payments list. Can the discount amount enter remain despite the edit of the date? If I change the date of the transaction, the $100 entered will revert back to 0.
