Create Revenue Elements for Subscription Revisions

I noticed this option within the setup in Netsuite but not sure what it does, it does give a warning that once marked you can't go back. Is this something most customers check? I dont want to do something that cannot be reversed if it doesnt do what I think it does.

SuiteAnswers didnt return any concrete examples of what it does. Can someone clarify it or provide a link I can study?
