How you handle Functional accounts and password expiration?

We have several accounts that are not tied to a person, but a function to be used for APIs for 3rd party saas applications such as Tipalti, Concur, Fiix, etc.

The 3rd party applications are logging into NetSuite when they run. My question is, when the password for the functional NetSuite account expires, do I need to change that password, or can I just let it sit with an expired password and reset it at whatever time in the future we need to log into that account again?

For those using similar accounts, what do you with password expirations?
