INSUFFICIENT_PERMISSION

I'm running a script on a custom record. I'm logged in with a role that has full permissions and i'm getting the following error:

Error: JS_EXCEPTION

INSUFFICIENT_PERMISSION For security reasons, only an administrator is allowed to edit an administrator record.

If I log in as the Administrator role, its fine, so its obviously a permission issue or something I've setup wrong. I have created multiple scripts before and never come across this issue.
